Psalm 78:23-29

New International Version

²³Yet he gave a command to the skies above
    and opened the doors of the heavens;^(A)
²⁴he rained down manna^(B) for the people to eat,
    he gave them the grain of heaven.
²⁵Human beings ate the bread of angels;
    he sent them all the food they could eat.
²⁶He let loose the east wind^(C) from the heavens
    and by his power made the south wind blow.
²⁷He rained meat down on them like dust,
    birds^(D) like sand on the seashore.
²⁸He made them come down inside their camp,
    all around their tents.
²⁹They ate till they were gorged—^(E)
    he had given them what they craved.

Passover Restrictions

⁴³The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the regulations for the Passover meal:^(A)

“No foreigner^(B) may eat it. ⁴⁴Any slave you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised^(C) him, ⁴⁵but a temporary resident or a hired worker^(D) may not eat it.

⁴⁶“It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones.^(E) ⁴⁷The whole community of Israel must celebrate it.

⁴⁸“A foreigner residing among you who wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land.^(F) No uncircumcised^(G) male may eat it. ⁴⁹The same law applies both to the native-born and to the foreigner^(H) residing among you.”

⁵⁰All the Israelites did just what the Lord had commanded^(I) Moses and Aaron. ⁵¹And on that very day the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt^(J) by their divisions.^(K)

Consecration of the Firstborn

13 The Lord said to Moses, ²“Consecrate to me every firstborn male.^(L) The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether human or animal.”

²⁷So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.^(A) ²⁸Everyone ought to examine themselves^(B) before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. ²⁹For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. ³⁰That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.^(C) ³¹But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.^(D) ³²Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined^(E) so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.^(F)

³³So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together. ³⁴Anyone who is hungry^(G) should eat something at home,^(H) so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment.
